Fiber optic adapters are intended for fiber-to-fiber coupling, press out connectors of different type. Optical adapters allow to connect and align with high accuracy relatively each other connectors SС, LC, FC, and as their different combinations. For support of accuracy of connection in the optical adapter special sleeves are used - centralizers, which are in most cases made of zirconium dioxide. In adapters for connection of connectors with differing diameters ferrule (SC-LC, LC-FC) two centralizers and the casing with exact geometry are used.
